I am a free artist, splattering paint and collaging and I love the ability to use my Cricut for unusual images. I am not Technical at all and get overwelmed with "brain" work. I had another program that I never used because I could kind of get a tiny bit but nothing more. I jumped in right away after I downloaded the trial of MTC! This is the most intuitive, easy, fast way to create and cut - or like me at times, just to bring in files to cut. I immediately figured out so many of the simple steps and was bringing in designs, sizing, creating welded words with no hassles at all. The updates are great and I realize all the time Andy puts into helping us with tools and everyone on this forum is so helpful. Well, if I can work with MTC and create projects, then anyone can! Thanks for a great product Andy! I adore my MTC! PS the webinar was so helpful as well.
To Andy...You did an AWESOME software....LOL....I use to use SCAL..but to be honest it started out good...then it got BUGGY BIG----TIME!!! it would shut down while i was in the middle of a project and anything else you can image....I would try and contact the maker of the software and noooo anwer.....BUT YOU!!!! on the other hand are NONE of those...you reply in a FLASH....and you listen when we need something fixed...you repair as fast as you can, and let us know about it.....and to make it short and sweet....YOU JUST CARE ABOUT YOUR USERS and what they what on the software...UNREALLL...Your software makes me want to create something new everyday...just so i can have a reason to use all the functions , and learn as i go...
Thank you ,,,you did an amazeing job....and nooo matter what people say about the forum or the software I WILL BACK YOU UP 100% with out blinking.
Andy is our Friend! He designed a program that is so user friendly, that I was speedily cut my designs and creations in mere moments. He gave us the best gift when we were told the updates would be included with our purchase, that is the frosting on the cake. Customer service is alive and well in Andy's world, he is true to his word. Through the MTC Forum and other places gifts and answers abound. Andy is on a Quest to improve and give more to all, he is the best. I use MTC everyday and learn new tricks and ways to create more effieciently. Thank you Andy and to all those that gave you the encouragment to give so much. Thank you, You are the King of the Paper Craft Mountain in my book:<) Phyllis Pmama
I brought Make the cut after a download trial ............. once I downloaded the trail I knew this was the program for me ......... I was never any good with inkscape ect ect .... so I wasnt designing to the best of my ablity .... with Make the cut I have designed so much stuff already its unreal ........ I have recomended this software to all my friends ,,,,,,, and those who have scal are even saying they are going to buy this one ......... I just want to say thank you to a great man for designing a great software for us crafters ...... cher xx
I've owned a cricut expression for about 3 years but it wasn't until recently that I really started using it because of MTC. I have SCAL but it wasn't as easy as it looked. MTC has really opened doors. I still buy cartridges I want but I wouldn't be cutting half the stuff I do if it weren't for MTC. The cartridges just don't have a lot of the images I like to use. MTC makes it so easy and the possibilities are endless. If it weren't for this software, my expression would still be collecting dust.....
I have owned a cricut expression for about 1 1/2 years, I have 2 juke boxes, DS and 17 cartridges; as well as a Cuttlebug and quite a few embossing folders. I finally purchased MTC so I could have the use of other fonts and svg designs. Provo Craft should realize that not everyone can afford to buy each and every cartridge they put out. There are many cartridges that only 1 or 2 cuts would be of use to me and it would be a total waste of money to purchase them. Andy has developed a wonderful product and really listens to his customers and answers their questions. I believe what Provo Craft is doing is wrong, I too will no longer purchase Provo Craft products until the lawsuit is dropped.
I purchased a cutting machine that I have wanted for a long time and invested in Make The Cut so that I would have the freedom to created my own designs and to use any of the fonts I wanted etc. I am soooo glad I did! It has opened up a whole new world of crafting for me! I never did scrapbooking before because of all the waste of buying embellishments just to get a piece or two that you need etc. Now I can create my own, one of a kind pages as well as so much more! I absolutely recommend MAKE THE CUT to everyone. Some of my friends have decided to purchase cutting machines now that they can use Make The Cut to make their designs. Even my daughter "who says she isn't creative" is interested in getting a machine, she is trying to decide which one?! But she will definitely be getting Make The Cut to use to create with! I have done MANY different types of crafts in my life and Make the Cut is the best "tool" I have ever purchased!
I think Provo Craft has come up with the most exciting product in a very long time. I consider it a tool though. I've bought tons of cartridges, but MTC is my savior when I can't find a shape I need on any cartridge that Provo Craft manufacturers. Also, it's soooooooo upsetting to spend hours and hours creating something by welding pieces together only to find that it needs to be just a little smaller or larger. Provo Craft has been asked for three years to add a grouping function and they refuse, so it always means you have to start over on your project to resize it. This is the only time I ever use the backup function of MTC, so I can import my project as one piece make the resizing a job that takes just seconds to accomplish. I don't know what I would do without it.
I don't remember seeing any restrictions when I bought my Cricut other than using third party software would void the warranty. Voiding the warranty is a choice I made and I'm so glad that I did.
I used to be a craft robo fan because I didnt want to be limited by the cartridges. The robomaster software was daunting to me but there was a lot of help out there. I found myself not using that machine very often and I spent a lot of money buying it. After about two years, PC came out with the paper doll cartridge and I had to have it so I bought a baby bug. In December, I came across SCAL and thought, I like the way the Cricut machine works better than the robo so I sold it and bought SCAL. A week or so later, MTC hit the market. Once I tested out the trial version I was hooked. I actually used my machine more in the first month I had MTC than I had used either of my machines over the past 3 years!
THEN....the webinar! What a fantastic tool for MTC users. Getting to watch Andy (the designer) show us exactly how the software was meant to be used was invaluable in my opinion. Concise, simple and solid information for all of us crafters. The next day, I went and pulled down a coloring page and seperated it just like Andy did on the webinar. I even shocked myself with how easily I was able to accomplish it with the tips from the webinar.
When I heard there would be monthly ones, I was completely hooked with this software and its designer. Next came the forum. OMG! These people are fantastic, friendly, fun, experienced and so willing to help out in any and all ways. Some should even look into becoming lawyers. =)
I am humbled to be able to be a part of this forum and hope that this forum and MTC prosper for many years to come.
Before I purchased MTC, I purchased SCAL April 9, 2010. I was unable to download SCAL, sent a message to support with issue problem, that only a EFW file would download (this is a file related to email ???), TWO days later April 11, 2010 I finally received a reply to follow this link(which was the same site I previously tried. I filed a PayPal complaint/claim on April 16, 2010 which was closed April 20, 2010 because SCAL said I received my program, yes I purchased the disk also, which came a week later, but the point of the issue was I purchased for an immediate download, unable to download due to SCAL programming, no longer interested in SCAL due to frustrations. I paid $75 for a program that I wanted to use immediately as it was a download purchase. I contacted Paypal by phone April 20, 2010 as I could not reopen the complaint and stated that "this was a download purchase" with immediate access, Paypal was going to contact SCAL on this issue, with instructions for SCAL to contact me, later that evening I emailed SCAL again my frustrations April 20, 2010 and received an immediate reply April 20, 2010 with the same link to follow (the one I purchased from) or rename the file from EFW to EXE, now "I" should not have to go about renaming files to get a program to work, IF the program would even work then. SCAL mentioned the return of the disk and YES they will definitely be receiving their disk back in todays mail, April 21, 2010. With all the fustration of SCAL, I purchased MTC, where I received immediately the program AND immediate help. I found MTC to be very user friendly, alot of very courteous and friendly help, a program standing up to its values, support and most importantly delivery of what it offers. Unfortunately I cannot give a comparison between SCAL and MTC ....Since I was unable to use or download SCAL....So I think that in itself speaks! THANKS! MTC for being there!
I am like most everyone here and have just about everything that pertains to the cricut. Something no one has mentioned that I have seen is one of the reasons that I purchased Make The Cut program. I have two copies of Design Studio as I have a desk top computer and a laptop. You cannot put the program on two computers. I needed it on the laptop as I take it to church and hold scrapbooking days there. I purchased one of the small Acer laptops and a second DS program to take with me. The Design Studio can not be loaded onto the small laptop because of the screen measurements. The make the cut software is allowed to be on both my computers plus it runs great on the small laptop. Thanks so much for allowing the program to be on two computers so that I can take it with me. I can design just about anywhere. Even take it to work with me and work on projects during my lunch. Love the program!
I absolutely LOVE MTC, I purchased my expression to create a gift for my mom for christmas and had to buy another cartridge to get the design I wanted. The cart I purchased was not an expensive one, thankfully! But after that my E pretty much sat collecting dust until I discovered what MTC was from other forums. Now that I have MTC I use my E at least once a week to create things. I'm not a scrapbooker or create cards so I mostly do things with vinyl and cutting odds and ends. Being able to pull things from the internet into MTC and create what my mind has envisioned really makes having the E worthwhile. I've been fortunate not to have had problems so I haven't needed support in that manner but the people on this forum are so nice to help with whatever I have asked and are more than willing and eager to help. If I had really understood that I would have to continue to purchase cartridges to create different designs I probably would not have purchased it.
I purchased a Cricut in November. I would never have purchased it if I had known I was supposed to by a new cartridge for everything I wanted to cut. If it hadn't been for MTC, it would have become a dust collector. Another friend had stopped using her Cricut for the same reason. She had given it away. After seeing MTC she was going to buy another Cricut. There are several other ladies I know that will want a Cricut when they see what I am able to do with mine.
Hello everyone! I'm a hybrid "faithbooker", I love to print with my PC programs vs. stamping! (smile) I've had my Cricut Expression for 8months, it came with 1cart (schoolbk), no Christian carts, & cart prices were such a turn off, I never used it until 2weeks ago! Now, I luv my cricutE & my primary use is for Bible Study decorations, favors, cards, programs, invitations etc. I've watched a slew of vid's on SCAL, someone posted MTC is easier on 1 of the vids. I watched scrappydew on utube, svgcuts, & scrappingtable to get more info. on both programs. Later googled MTC vs. SCAL, I came across 2 websites that really made me say "I'm buying MTC"; one had a comparison chart of the two programs while having bias for SCAL, I decided MTC would be better suited for my needs. I just purchased the program & it is so great - I cut my first svg flower! Thanx a million!!!
LOVE IT, LOVE IT. What more can I say. Its easy and great tutiorals to get you going. Great support. No up grade fees. Its the best. Thanks Andy and all the others that make it the best for us. Hugs
I would like to say that I LOVE MTC. I find it soooo easy and intuative ( shame spelling isn't). I avidly watch any tutorial I find and am also watching the webinars. Never have I found a program where you can get so much help and tutouring to help you use it. I have the Design Studio and tried it twice but found it very fiddle and complicated. Then looked at SCAL, but again, altho easier than DS still not easy. When I downloaded the trial of MTC and discovered how good it was I was so excited I sat here clapping my hands...well done Andy and everyone! Rob at Scrappydew was the one showing the way :)
I am not really a computer person so I had to read a lot on this site for tips and stuff like that...but once I started using it, I didn't want to stop!! I am on the demo right now but hopefully will be able to purchase soon. What a great program!! Thanks!!
Iam a computer tech and had bought SCAL and it was a big pain in the butt to have to use 2 programs and it was complicated. my sister rachellann told me about MTC and i went over to her house and watched her use MTC and how simple and user friendly it was. i bought a cricut for my christams present and got mtc and on installing it i was able to create a profesional looking product. andy has made all crafters lives better by creating this program and staying plugged into his users and what it is they want in the software. i have recogmended this software to other cricut owners and low tech users was able to use it from the start.plus with the economy like it is who can spend 40-80 dollars on one cartrage. in mtc users can share their files and creations. thanks andy.
After purchasing MTC I decided to check out the Forum and what a wealth of help and information! I'm completely new to the Cricut machine, as well as, MTC software. The very first time I had a question it was answered promptly and everyone was so eager to help. I'm brand new here, but I can tell from reading through, and what I experienced today that this is an incredible software program and forum. Thanks so much!
Customer service is alive and well in Andy's world, he is true to his word. I would never have purchased it if I had known I was supposed to by a new cartridge for everything I wanted to cut --------------------- Med Vision Medline
I downloaded the MTC trial a few months ago and liked what I saw. I ended up buying it. As someone familiar with desktop publishing software, I was used to working with objects and so MTC felt familiar from the get-go. Like others here, I hardly used my Cricut until I bought MTC. The Cricut cartridges are horribly overpriced and as an artist, I love that I can draw something and scan it into this software.
I work for a flower shop, and talked my boss into picking up a small original Cricut of her own (used) so we could customize things for our customers. She's excited about this and is interested in getting MTC for the store. For now, I'll just bring in my laptop when we need to do such cutting. It's so nice knowing we can offer our customers all sorts of customized words for tribute ribbons and other arrangements.
My husband bought me MTC for Mother's Day, and I have been having such a good time! I wanted to have the option of cutting out a lot of fonts and images without buying a lot of cartridges, and I liked the idea of welding words. But I did not know that my favorite thing about MTC was going to be the WYSIWYG characteristic. Because I know exactly where things will be placed on the mat, I can run many images, with different papers, at the same time. Last night, I ran FIVE different images, with FIVE different cardstocks - wonderful, wonderful, wonderful! Saves paper, too.
I needed to register, just so I could post here. I don't have much time for reading the MB and, especially for contributing, but when I saw this, I had to take the time. I bought a Pazzles about 4 years ago - used it once - and stuck it away because it took me so much time to figure out how to cut my own image. Just over a year ago, I bought a Cricut Create and found SCAL2. I loved it so much that I also bought an Expression. I also wanted to be able to use the images on PC's carts, so I spent a lot of time on eBay and managed to win a lot of carts at very good prices. I tried the trial of DS and was very upset because I couldn't get it to do anything I wanted, even after watching videos. It certainly couldn't do what SCAL could do. Plus, the dpi has to be set at 96 and I can't read my screen at that dpi. Switching back and forth is a real pain, so I didn't buy it. (Also, it won't work on my Windows 7 64 bit laptop). I bought the Gypsy when it came out on HSN after reading all the hype about what it could do - it went back 2 days later. It didn't take me long to learn that I could do more with SCAL than I could with the carts, or other PC offerings, and recently sold most of my carts that had never even been opened. Then I found MTC and thought I had died and gone to scrapping heaven. Finances have been tough lately, so I haven't had the money to register it yet. I've only been playing around with the functions, but I'm thrilled to have found it and can't wait until I can afford to buy it. This is a terrific program - easy to use (or learn to use, if necessary) and it allows me to make, print, and cut almost anything (did I say almost?) and do it without hours of aggravation. I've sworn off buying ANY PC products because of how they treat others, including Andy, the Cricut Cake Lady, and their customers, until they start to do the right thing by others. I also refuse to pay the obscene prices they charge for the carts when I can't use their images in ways that I want to. Andy has developed a wonderful product that adds to the value of any Cricut cutter. They should be recommending MTC for manipulating and combining images and text, instead of selling the worthless DS and ripping people off. I also want to add that images very similar to those on PC's carts can be found all over the Internet - they aren't unique. So what if it takes me a few extra minutes to find what I'm looking for or to create it myself. Thanks Andy for all that you've done!
Fijne dag allemaal :)
wow just heard about MTC yesterday have downloaded the trail, have expression, gypsy & DS am in the UK so it's all expensive here gonna have a play for a few days but think it will be a forsure purchase anyway am sure I am not the only one who thought it but whats to stop me print screening any cart I put up on my DS screen then savin as a jpeg & using that cut on my MTC!!! will I ever have to buy another cart! I think not!
For all the curious people...here is Mirjam's testimonial iGoogle translated from Dutch to English:
A great program, yet had no regrets! I thank Andy and his wife all the time they've put into this program! Lets hope there is also a Dutch textbook convenience, here in the Netherlands there are many fans of this program! Of course, everyone thanks for the many video and PDF lessons. I hope someone here in the Netherlands also have lessons on video drop, there will be many fun, not everyone is the mighty English language and it would be unfortunate if people like to order a program to buy. Nice day:)
This MTC program is so much fun to use. I learn something new about it constantly. I've never had any program with as much available help and so quickly. It makes the Cricut so much more fun to use. This is one program I'll never regret buying. Thanks Andy and Ann.
I have had my cricut expression for about 18 months. The cartridges were so expensive that I couldn't afford to buy very many. I learned about MTC approx. a year ago, and I love it. I use it all the time. I have Cricut design studio and Sure Cuts a lot (bought them first), but I like MTC the best. It is user friendly, most of the time, and on the few times that I had a problem, my questions were answered promptly. I don't know of any other program or business where you get to talk to the owner! Where can you go for free updates and tutorials? Nowhere that I know of! The webinars are totally amazing and very exhilarating. I cannot express in words my gratitude for such an amazing program and support system. Anyone that feels hesitant about this program can email me and I will be happy to tell them my great experiences. (rmauter@sbcglobal.net) I am a first-time author of a Christian Children's book and I used "Make the Cut" for my display table. The features of this program are amazing. I can't believe how lucky I am to have found it. Thanks Andy - you're the best.
I bought my cricut expression black friday last christmas and have never wanted to afford the other cartridges. I read about SCAL for a while and almost bought it until your MTC software came out. I purchased yours and am soooooo happy with it. The tuts everyone shares, the ability to ask questions, and the forum are excellent. Thanks for a wonderful product. Sheri
I just want to add my 2 cents worth of praise for this program. I'm a former typesetter/graphic artist now working full time as a legal assistant/office manager, and nearing retirement. My husband had found a quote that he wanted made into a sign for his rear window on his car, and we looked around to see what it would cost. Over $200! I'd been seeing info-mercials for the Cricut and began to do my research on the various machines out there and what all the supplies would cost. The thought of paying an arm and a leg for graphics was not attractive at all, so I put off making a purchase. I read up on all the third-party options, and was intrigued by SCAL and almost made my decision to purchase a Cricut on the availability of that software alone. I thought I would be thrilled to have the option to cut whatever I pleased. BUT....I continued to hesitate and peruse the internet and came upon a mention of MTC. That, as they say, was that. I downloaded the trial even though I didn't own a cutter because I figured if I didn't like the product, at least I didn't spend anything. Needless to say, I purchased the license for the software and went out and bought a Cricut Create. (Wal-Mart $139) The software is so intuitive, I have had no 'learning curve' whatsoever. I've already cut the quote for my husband and am working on paw-prints and bones border for my new grandson-to-be's nursery. Unlimited upgrades, great forums, support, file-sharing. This is how I think all software should be. It's ridiculously inexpensive, and you better believe I sing its praises to all who will listen.
I have had my baby bug for about two years. I have only four carts that I have purchased. The only cart that I have used the most was the Sports Mania and that one is my sister's that I use. I just don't have the money to keep purchasing carts for all kinds of different images. I downloaded the trial version and was instantly hooked. My DH purchased the full version for me for my birthday this past year and I am on it constantly and have used it more than any carts. I love the forum and all the help everyone gives. I still have a lot to learn about what all it can do. One of these days I will learn how to draw and cut out my own pictures. I look forward to it, and any help would greatly be appreciated. Thank you to all of you who have made me feel welcome to Make The Cut.
I have a baby bug and an expression. I also own design studio and have several cricut cartridges. When I want to design something I never seem to havce the right cartridge. Make the Cut is now the program for me hands down. If for no other reason, I now have every font imaginable at my disposal. This program has been used on countless projects. I find the forum very helpful. The webinars are a terrific way to learn the program. Kudos to Andy for this wonderful program and all his hard work.
well to start off with........got the used baby cricut in Dec 2009 for Christmas from my oldest daughter as she purchased the cricut expression......was so happy to get the machine went right out and bought cds and three carts......got home and used the machine for about one week......made all i wanted from the three carts and then away went the cricut into hibernation.....as on a pension, buying more carts at that time was out of the question......in April, 4 months later, daughter told me about MTC program.....used the trial version for about 3 hours straight and bought it right away......hauled the baby cricut out of hibernation and used it almost daily.....was no longer LIMITED to what i could cut other than size......and SIZE became a big problem.....soooo.......less than a week later, off i went and bought the Cricut Expression Pink.....money i should really not have spent as i already have a cricut......the MTC program had inabled me to cut whatever i want and because of MTC program i have purchased not only the bigger machine but also many more supplies needed to make my projects......without MTC program the baby cricut would still be in hibernation......
As a new comer to making cards and scrapbooking, i went into the MTC forum and just sandbagged for a few days....finally got the nerve to ask a question and was amazed at the number of people who jumped in to answer......and it hasnt stopped....there is always someone to help and if they cant they direct you to Andy who is more than willing to help lead you through whatever problem you are having.....Andy not only developed the best program with the MTC program but he is right there with help and he also listens to what we would like to see in the program and if at all possible it shows up in a new update shortly thereafter....Andy hosts webinars where we can participate in a hands on attmosphere and have IMMEDIATE help when needed......Thanks Andy!!!!
Make The Cut program is easy to use and with new updates when needed, (and we can be pests about what we want) it is the BEST program going for all your scrapbooking, card making, vinyl cutting, and .....well....the list goes on!!!!
I got the blue WishBlade when it first came out and have been using it ever since. I loved the ability to design my own files and cut any TTF. I got very proficient at using Inkscape and going through the file conversion process to make it a gsd.
However, I was missing a 12x12 canvas. I've held off on getting the Cricut because I knew that I would not be happy to be tied to cartridges. I was looking at perhaps getting a Pazzle or the KNK. But when Sheri in Texas showed me the MTC software at a retreat last weekend, I was sold. That night I purchased a Cricut Expression and the MTC software. So yes, ProvoCraft finally got some of my scrappin' dollars, but it was a win win. Because of the MTC software, I'm still able to design my own files and I have a 12x24 canvas to work with.
Thanks Andy for developing such great software. I know I can still create in Inkscape and bring it into MTC. I hope that one day you'll have some advanced settings in MTC that permit vector manipulation and free hand drawing. Then, I'll have all that I need in one wonderful place.
Thanks Sheri for enabling me and showing me this awesome toolset.
